Summary -
PJ is on trial for the murder of Raylene Darcy, and at the same time, his first case in Mt Thomas has come back to haunt him.
6 years before, PJ had arrested Mickey Howson for the beating of his wife, which had left her almost dead. PJ had interviewed him for hours on end, persisting until Mickey had finally confessed. 6 years later Mickey's brother Rod Howson and his wife Abby are claiming that it was Rod who killed the wife. They claimed he was having an affair with her, and when she tried to break it off he killed her. Conveniently though, Rod was lying near death in a hospital bed which meant he had nothing to lose if he claimed he'd done it, which would let his brother out of prison, and leave his wife with some compensation money.

The Heelers try to keep this case from PJ, as they don't want PJ to lose confidence in himself, however PJ found out straight away, and saw straight through the Howson's plans. The problem was proving that they were lying.

The Darcy trial was running at the same time, with Luke Darcy accusing PJ of purposly murdering his mother to get revenge on Luke.
With Luke's lawyer Sophie Camillo twisting all their words, PJ was losing his temper and started to even doubt himself. The video tape, when shown one frame at a time, showed PJ shooting Raylene in the back with his third shot making it look like murder.
Maggie however didn't doubt PJ for a second and told him the video was a lie, because it didn't happen like that, they'd stretched it into milliseconds, but it happened in only a few seconds.
With renewed confidence PJ stood up for himself with Ms Camillo, and was found innocent.

Maggie was investigating the Howson case, and had convinced Tom to hold off on calling Monica Draper, saying it would look bad for PJ's case. 
However Inspector Monica Draper turned up, taking Maggie off the case and wondering why she hadn't been called.

Maggie ignored Monica's orders and went and spoke to Abby Howson, asking her if she wanted her kids to grow up thinking their father had brutally bashed a lady.
It worked and Abby came and confessed shortly after Rod died, but Maggie was given discipline notice which would go on her record for disobeying the inspector.
