Summary -
When Barry Craig, the man involved in
the drug ring which killed Maggie's brother Robbie, is put on trial, Maggie
does everything possible to flush out the rest of the players in the ring.
When Barry offers her a deal she can't refuse - a disk with the names of
every player including many crooked cops - Maggie puts her life, and everyone
she knows at risk. She passes the disk onto her brother Mick who begs her
to go into Witness Protection, otherwise the drug ring will send a hit
man to kill her. Maggie refuses on the condition that she won't tell anyone
else about the disk, not even PJ. That night her house is burnt down, with
her and PJ only escaping at the last moment. That same night Barry Craig
is found dead in his jail cell. Maggie realises she must go into Witness
Protection not just to protect herself, but to ensure the safetly of the
people she loves. She tells PJ that she can't marry him because she has
to disappear, and because they've announced their engagement to everyone,
they fake an argument which results in Maggie calling the wedding off.
She then tells Tom she's going to accept the job offer she's had, and that
she's going to leave Mt Thomas because there's nothing left holding her
there anymore. The episode ends with Maggie and PJ meeting up after the
fight, so if you didn't realise the fight was fake before then you will
now. Maggie is really upset because she doesn't want to leave, but PJ tells
her "Right now, all that matters, is that we get you out of here safetly."
